Heather Rees Counselling

Reset Restore Resolve

I believe every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with a safe, supportive space where they feel genuinely heard and respected. As a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I strive to provide a safe and nurturing space for you to explore your emotions and experiences. A person-centred and trauma-informed approach to therapy ensures that you are supported every step of the way on your healing journey.

What is person-centred counselling,

and what does that mean for you?

It means a safe space to explore difficult or challenging thoughts and feelings. It means an objective and non-judgemental listener to help you reflect on your lived experience. It means empathy and understanding.

Person-centred counselling may help you to reset unhelpful patterns, restore balance, and resolve what may be holding you back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, your confidentiality is our top priority. We adhere to strict privacy policies to ensure your information is secure.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions varies for each individual. An initial conversation will establish what your therapy goals are and then I will work with you to determine a schedule of sessions.

What is trauma-informed therapy?

Trauma-informed therapy is an approach that recognises the widespread impact of trauma and emphasises creating a safe and supportive environment for healing.

Do you offer outdoor sessions?

I offer outdoor sessions in a range public spaces in Truro, weather permitting. This is a 'blended' offering where the session can be switched to online or phone for that scheduled session.

What are the benefits of outdoor sessions?

Being in nature may have restorative effects on mood, whilst performing an activity, like walking, can often enable clients to feel more relaxed during a session.

Are you able to have clients from outside the UK?

I am insured to work with clients worldwide, working within the UK GDPR framework. If you are living outside the UK, please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Do you work with children and young people?

I do not currently have a formal qualification for working with children and young people. However, I have extensive experience of working with young people through my 20+ years in secondary schools as both a teacher and as a pastoral lead. This includes working with mental health issues, self-harm, and a range of special educational needs.

If you are the parent or carer of a young adult and would like more information, please feel free to contact me.

Do counsellors have to be qualified?

Currently, in the UK, the counselling industry is unregulated. This means there may be some people who are working as counsellors or therapists who have not completed any formal training or do not hold a recognised qualification.

If you are unsure, you can check if a counsellor is qualified by checking whether they are registered with a professional body such as the BACP or UKCP.
